When analysing these magazines it can be seen that they are all several similarities and differences between each magazine whether it be through the covention used within the magazine, language, camera angles, presentational features and content.
When comapring the different target audiences and the names and the reasons behind them that each fall into various different genres and sub genres. For example, with the magaazine 'Mixmag' it seem that it is term used within the genre 'dance music' and it is used to represent it's target audience of people who are interested in going to clubs, having a great time and this can be conveyed through the use of the main image of the young early twenty year olds letting their hair down and trying to have fun and a great time. However, this can be seen as a contrast to the magazine 'Q' and 'NME' which are both Rock music magazines and both being representations and cater for people who are interested in mellow rock rather than heavy metal. Furthermore, it can be seen that they cater for an older, more sophisticated audience e.g. adults perhaps ranging from the age of early twenty years to early thirties and is suitable perhaps for people from both genders. In addition, an opposite of the previous magazine would be the magazine 'We <3 Pop' which can be seen basically from the title is based entirely on the genre of Pop but also from the graphics and language that the magazine has been made for young teenagers.
When comparing the quanity and content within the magazines you could say that 'Mixmag offers and wide variety of articles which surround the genre but also includes several other aspects to the genre e.g. fashion etc. However, with the other magazines they are concise and selective on the articles mentioned maybe due to what they think would appeal most to their target audience and what would make their sales figures increase to the best they can get possible. Moreover, when analysing the camera angles being used in all of the magazines there are several reasons why they have been chosen. For instance, in the magazine 'We <3 Pop' they use a mixture of mid close ups (Tulisa and Conor Maynard), to wide shots (e.g. on One Direction to show all the memebers involved in the band) and two shots (Tulisa with the editor). For most again it can been seen through the use of Tulisa being used in the images several times that she is the main focus of the issue and this presentational feature is being used throughout all the contents pages. On the whole, each of the magazines use a variety of the shots mentioned because they are the most common ones normally featured in any contents page.
With the layout of the contents pages can be seen as structured, creative, suitable for target audience and content. It can be seen that a common feature is that the articles are ordered either by chronological nevertheless some of the others make the use of organising them through sub headings to make it easier for the reader to locate their preferred section of the magazine to read. Furthermore, with the images it can be seen that they all have page number on them to which article they link to in the contents page biut the ones not mentioned in the contents page list they include a pull quote summarising what the article is about to entice the reader to continue to read onwards.
Throughout the language used within each of them is used to engage the audience and to allow them to feel included and involved and to propose their opinion to the audience e.g. 'We love this...' shows what they love about the magazine however, some people may argue that they have to love everything about their magazine. Nevertheless, there is several examples of powerful vocab, e.g. awkward, wringing and limelight etc which makes the articles seem interesting and to allow the reader to want to carry on reading.
Furthermore, other presentational devices used which are being used is the use of colours which link to their specific target audience also another interesting presentational device would be the graphics and the editing to the photos to avoid shadowing and the brightness and contrast to make the celebrities look as best as possible.
Finally, from looking at these contents pages the one I feel that is the closest to how I want to produce mine would be 'We <3 Pop' because it layout is bold, eye catching and interesting as well as easy to navigate around which is especially useful for its young target audience to avoid confusion. Also what I thought was good about this magazine is how consistent their magazine is and instead of the fonts being used being bland, they are bold, appropriate and creative. So this is the contents page which I believe I will get my inspiration from.
