Ideas for main task

Today I went to the Radio 1 teen awards and from there perhaps I thought of basing my magazine on that award show and to include several pictures on the musicians who were involved within the event. Also I thought I could write an article inside about the whole experience of being there and enjoying the atmosphere, perhaps this could be a possibility in which I may considered but at the moment I will think about it.

Evaluation of Final School Magazine

When creating my school magazine I wanted to make it to appeal to my target audience as much as possible also I wanted to keep it to a clear and concise colour scheme to allow it to seem sensible and professional. Furthermore, I wanted to look bold, eye catching and enticing. In addition, I tried to keep it as close to the specifications given to me. So on the whole I was pretty pleased with my final outcome and if I had to complete it again I would perhaps explore with several other features which In design had to offer. Moreover, from starting to use the software I have gained several lessons and now can begin to use the software more effectively.

In addition, since my first draft I have made several changes. For instance, I have made several changes to the layout of my front cover to make it more appealing to my target audience. Furthermore, I edited the picture layout as I thought in my first draft the layout did not look right on the page and in my final draft I found the layout more appropriate. Finally, in comparison to my first draft I decided to put my article on a separate page to make the front cover less crowded and look my spaced out which I feel is more effective.

First Draft of my Preliminary Task (School Newpspaper)

When creating my first draft I was a bit unsure of  how to design it. First I began by creating a basic structure of how I wanted it to look and then I progressed onto thinking of a colour scheme (however instead of the background being pink like on my blog it is actually white) I thought of having the background white but the text and the text boxes to be blue and green to match the colour scheme of our schools logo. Furthermore, I wanted the writing to be bubbly, current, interesting for my target audience. Moreover, I went onto deciding to have the layout basic and it to be structured and organised. Finally, I inseted in the pictures and then add the text.

Photoshop Practice Task

In this lesson our task was to create a movie poster to allow us to practice our photoshop skills and to allow us to gain experience from using the software. Furthermore, it allowed me to learn from several mistakes when attempting to crop the pictures of the actors but also adjusting the gradient of the images because with some attempts I either went to light or too dark but from constatly practicing with that tool I finally got it to how I wanted it to look. Also the most challenging point within this software would have to be making sure that I did not crop parts of the images out that I was not suppposed to but additionally placing the images in the correct ways for example getting the layering perfect to resemble the copy placed in the booklet. Throughout I made sure that I followed it step by step so that it looked how I hoped it would. Fianlly, if I could gain anything from this task it would have to be to learn how to become more confident with the software and have a little less complications.

School Magazine Questions

If I had to describe my ideal reader for my school magazine it would have to be someone who is curious about the world around them and someone who wants to know all the latest gossip for example, in the celebrity world, someone who is between the age of 16-18 years old, can be either gender, hardworking and dedicated to school work and friends & family.
Furthermore, if I was to map out a typical day for someone from my target audience it would be someone who gets up early to get ready for school, has to head to school quickly with a busy full day or half a day if they are lucky, then when they first get home start to unwind and complete household chores, then throughout the evening are completing homework and catching up any further reading etc. Finally as a break, they would watch TV, listen to music, etc and then head to bed after this hectic day.
Finally, if had to describe my school newspaper in a couple of words I would describe it as relevant and current.  

Stories I will include on the front cover and contents page of the Sixth Form newspaper

Here are my final ideas of what articles I will include within my Sixth Form newspaper:

* For my front cover it will include the main story which will be on the transition from GCSE's to A-levels and will contain a variety of statements from the Sixth Formers explaining the huge jump that is involved and how much hardwork is needed to succeed  to move onto the stage after A-levels whether it will be getting a job or going to University etc.
* The contents page will contain what will be include on each page with images that link to them so the reader can see and pick what interests them to read. Also the numbers on the images included and beside the list of content within the newspaper will make it much easier to navigate around in the newspaper, but also the images used on the contents page will have the pages numbers of the stories they relate to and a brief caption overlapping them. Also on the top right hand corner will be the editors note summarising what is included in this issue of the paper.
* Second story will be a look back on Prom and the people in which have left.
* Then there will be whole school reminders and and coming test/essay reminders and also school trips for the various different courses.
* Next there will be news from the celeb world such as the latest gossip and fashion tips for both genders and beauty tips for the girls
* Furthermore there will be news about sports and news about the latest technology, science news and the newest gaming world experiences.
* Final page will include agony aunt services, quizes, useful websites, latest news on social networking sites, film, music, television etc reviews.

Explanation of my pictures for preliminary task

For my images I would like to use in my school I would ideally like them to express how busy, active, hardworking the students are day in day out everyday in Sixth Form and how even though study is their main priority that they can still have time to socialise and enjoy themselves. For example, for some of my images I would like them of the Sixth Form area e.g. common room, reception area with water depenser and vending machine, school restuarant, Library, balchony seated area etc. But also for demonstrating socialisation and hard work I want to get pictures of the students working and communicating in the sixth form areas. Finally to show their extra cirruculars show a student carrying out their enrichment. I feel on a whole that these images would demonstrate a Sixth Formers day to day routine near enough to what they fit in to do within a day but to also convey the wide range of facilities provided to the students.
