What inspires children to read? We know the answers will be different from child to child so we believe it’s vital to offer the widest possible range of reading. Magazines are an essential part of that range, and they play a vital role in entertaining and educating children.
Our magazines – and Egmont is one of the UK’s largest magazine publishers for children, selling a million a month – provide fun through reading. They open up the imaginations of children through favourite characters and they engage their interests through topics and attitudes that really appeal to them – from 3 years old through to early teens.
I feel that my magazine wouldn't suit another institution because I feel that the majority of institutions have a wide variety of magazines they specialise in so perhaps it wouldn't gain as much recognition and may not be marketed in the same way Egmont may do. For example, with Top of the Pops it is related to BBC Radio 1 and therefore allows the magazine to get marketed through that and enables them to gain more readers.
